An enclosed case may combine panels, a pallet base, framing and internal blocking. The material description needs to cover the entire package, including solid timber hidden behind processed-wood panels.
Begin with a packing design
Provide cargo dimensions, weight, support, lifting and restraint needs. Explain whether the case will be opened during the route and whether access panels or moisture protection are needed. Specialist design may be needed for fragile or heavy equipment.
A practical specification example
A case described as plywood may still include regulated solid-wood runners and blocks. Ask for a material schedule and the applicable treatment and marking arrangements. The packaging design, plant-health requirement and freight dimensions should be reviewed together.
Treatment and marking for the finished packaging
Tell us where the goods are being packed and their final destination. Include collars, blocking and other raw timber used with the base. Ask for the treatment and marking requirement to be confirmed for the offered construction. Neither entry type, footprint nor new condition is proof of ISPM 15 compliance. Changes after the packaging is supplied should be referred back to the responsible provider.
